Pongo green and yellow Pullover

Materials
3 x 50g balls of Ornaghi Filati Pisolo: 2 balls green, 1 ball yellow; one pair 3 1/2 mm needles; one pair 4 mm needles; one snap-fastener.

Stitches
K1, p1 rib:
Row 1: *k1, p1*
Row 2 and foll rows: k the k sts and p the p sts as they face you
Garter stitch (Gr st)
Knit all rows.
Striped garter stitch (Gr st)
Knit all rows *4 rows green, 2 rows yellow*.

Gauge
17 sts and 30 rows to 10 cm in Gr st using size 4 mm needles.

Back
With size 4 mm needles and green cast on 60 sts. Work in Striped Garter st Work straight in pattern until work measures 15 cm from beg (=46 r.) Shape armholes. Next row: k5 green, SKP (slip 1, k1, pass slipped st over knit st), k46 sts in Gr st, k2 tog, k5 green. Next row: k5 green, k48 sts in Striped Gr st, k5 green. Rep these 2 rows 6 more times, decr. 1 st above previous dec. on every second row (=46 sts). Work even until piece measures 27 cm from beg (=82 r.). Cast off.

Front
With size 4 mm needles and green cast on 60 sts. Work in Striped Garter st Work straight in pattern until work measures 15 cm from beg (=46 r.) Shape armholes. Next row: k5 green, SKP (slip 1, k1, pass slipped st over knit st), k46 sts in Gr st, k2 tog, k5 green. Next row: k5 green, k48 sts in Striped Gr st, k5 green. Rep these 2 rows 6 more times, decr. 1 st above previous dec. on every second row (=46 sts). Work even until piece measures 20 cm from beg (=60 r.). Shape front opening. K to centre 2 sts and bind off, join a 2nd ball of yarn and k to end. Working with 2 balls of yarn, work in patt on remaining sts at each side. Work even until piece measures 24 cm from beg (=72r.). Shape neck. Cast off 4 sts at neck edge. Cast off at neck edge of foll alt rows 2 sts, 1 st. Work even until piece measures 27 cm from beg (=82 r.). Cast off.

To make up
Join shoulders seams. With right side facing, using size 3 1/2 mm needles and green knit up 12 sts evenly along left side of front opening and work 4 rows in k1, p1 rib. Cast off. Work the same border along right side of front opening. With right side facing, using size 4 mm needles and green knit up 62 sts evenly around neck edge and work 6 rows in k1, p1 rib. Cast off. Join sides. Sew the snap-fastener button on front neck border.
