Materials
1 x 50g balls of Ornaghi Filati Pisolo pink; one pair 2 mm needles; 25 cm of round elastic.

Stitches
Stocking stitch (rev. St st):
*knit 1 row, purl 1 row*
Open-work stitch:
Row 1, 3: knit
Row 2 and foll even rows: purl
Row 5: K1, *K2tog, yo*, k1
Row 7, 9: Knit.
Pattern stitch:
Row 1: k1, *k1, k2 tog, yo, k1, yo, SKP (slip 1, k1, pass slipped st over knit st), k2*.
Row 2 and all even rows: purl
Row 3: k1, *k2 tog, yo, k3, yo, SKP, k3*.
Row 5: k2 tog, *yo, k5, yo, slip 1, k2 tog, pass slipped st over knit st*, end with SKP.
Row 7: k1, *yo, SKP, k3, k2 tog, yo, k1*.
Row 9: k1, *k1, yo, SKP, k1, k2 tog, yo, k2*.
Row 11: k1, *k2, yo, slip 1, k2 tog, pass slipped st over knit st, yo, k3*.
Row 13: rows 3-12 form pattern.

Instructions
With size 2 mm needles cast on 36 sts. Work 10 rows in open-work st. Work 41 rows as foll: 1 st in St st, 33 sts in Patt st, 2 sts in St st. Next row place 34 centre sts on holder. Working with 2 balls of yarn, work in patt on remaining sts at each side and, at end of every row, work 1 of the sts on holder 5 times, then k tog the 3 foll sts on holder. Work in St st over 32 rem. sts, decr. at each side of centre 16 sts 1 st every 2nd row 3 times. Work straight 4 rows then decr. 1 st at each side of 2 centre sts and at beg and end of every foll. alternate row 5 times. Cast off rem. 6 sts.

To make up
Join foot, heel and back seams. Fold border in half and sew, inserting round elastic.
