Pattern stitch (Patt st):

Row 2: K1, *(K1, p1, K1) all into next st, p3 tog*, K1
Row 4: K1, *p3 tog, (K1, p1, K1) all into next st *, K1
These 4 rows form pattern.

Gauge
18 sts and 17 rows to 10 cm in Patt st using size 4 mm needles.

Back
With size 4 mm needles cast on 77 sts. Work 4 rows in Gr st (=2 cm). Cont in Patt st, incr. 5 sts evenly across 1st row (=82 sts). Work straight until piece measures 28 cm from Gr st (=48 r.). Shape armholes. Cast off at beg of every row 3 sts twice. Next row: work 4 sts in Gr st, SKP (slip 1, k1, pass slipped st over knit st), work in Patt to next 6 sts, K2tog, work 4 in Gr st. Cont decr. 1 st every alt row 5 more times (=64 sts). Work straight until piece measures 52 cm from Gr st (=88 r.). Shape neck. K to centre 20 sts and bind off, join a 2nd ball of yarn and k to end. Working with 2 balls of yarn, dec 3 st at each side of neck edge on every foll alternate row twice. Work straight until piece measures 55 cm from Gr st (=94 r.). Cast off rem. 16 sts.

Right front
With size 4 mm needles cast on 24 sts. Work 4 rows in Gr st (=2 cm). Work: 4 sts in Gr st (=front border), 20 sts in Patt st. Shape front. Incr 2 sts inside 4 sts of front border every alt row 10 times (=44 sts). Work straight until piece measures 27 cm from Gr st (=46 r.). Shape neck. Decr 1 st inside 4 sts of front border every alt row 24 times. At the same time when piece measures 28 cm from Gr st (=48 r.) shape armhole. Cast off at beg of next row 3 sts. Next row: work in patt to last 6 sts, K2tog, work 4 in Gr st. Cont decr. 1 st every alt row 5 more times. Work straight until piece measures 55 cm from Gr st (=94 r.). Cast off 16 sts for shoulder. Work straight on 4 sts for border 22 cm more. Cast off. Work left front reversing shapings until piece measures 55 cm from Gr st (=94 r.). Cast off.

To make up
Join shoulders seams. Join border to back neck edge. Join sides.
