350 grams Mélange pink Ornaghi Filati Esterelle yarn; No. 4½ and 5 rows; 5 buttons.

All plain rows.
Stocking-stitch:
* 1 plain row, 1 purl row *.

Sample:
10 X 10 cm in stocking-stitch with No. 5 rows = 11 stitches X 16 rows.

BACK: With No. 4½ rows start 54 stitches and knit them, for the border, 3 cm (= 6 rows) in a string mode. Proceed in stocking-stitch with No. 5 rows. At 26 cm from the border (= 41 rows) for the arm-holes knit in a string mode the first and the last three stitches, and inside these stitches cast off 1 stitch every 2 rows seven times (= 40 stitches). At 48 cm from the border (= 77 rows) interlace the remaining stitches in a single way.

RIGHT FRONT: With No. 4½ rows start 29 stitches and knit them, for the border, 3 cm (= 6 rows) in a string mode. Proceed with No. 5 rows knitting 4 stitches in a string mode, for the border, 25 stitches in stocking-stitch. At the center of the buttoning border make 5 button holes at a normal distance. At 24 cm from the border (= 39 rows) for the neckline cast off on the right, inside the border 1 stitch every two rows three times, 1 stitch every 4 rows eight times. At the same time at 26 cm from the border (= 41 rows) for the arm-hole knit in a string mode the last three stitches, and inside such stitches cast off 1 stitch every 2 rows seven times. At 48 cm from the border (= 77 rows) interlace the 9 stitches of the shoulder in a single way and leave in suspense the 4 stitches of the border. Knit the left front in an opposite sense, without making the button holes and interlacing the stitches of the border also at the shoulder level.

MANUFACTURING: Sew the shoulder. With No. 4½ rows re-take the 4 stitches left in suspense for the right front border and knit in a string mode for the length of the back neckline. Interlace. Sew the border to the back neckline. Sew the sides. Attach the buttons.
