Materials
5 x 50g balls of Ornaghi Filati Chicco orange; one pair 3 1/2 mm needles; cable needle.

Stitches
Stocking stitch (St st):
*knit 1 row, purl 1 row*
Garter stitch (Gr st):
Knit all rows.
Pattern st:
Row 1: p2, k2, C4B (sl 2 sts onto cable needle and hold at back of work, k2, k sts form cable needle), p 2
Row 2 and foll even rows: k the k sts and p the p sts as they face you
Row 3: p2, C4F (sl 2 sts onto cable needle and hold at front of work, k2, k sts form cable needle), k 2, p 2
These 4 rows form pattern.

Gauge
22 sts and 30 rows to 10 cm in St st using size 3 1/2 mm needles.

Back
With size 3 1/2 mm needles cast on 65 sts. Work 10 rows in Gr st (=3 cm). Cont. 24 rows as foll: 3 sts in Gr st, 59 sts in St st, 3 sts in Gr st. Work even in St st over all sts until piece measures 38 cm from beg (=116 r.), end with wrong side row. Shape shoulders. Cast off 6 sts at beg of next 6 rows. Leave on holder rem. 29 sts.

Front
With size 3 1/2 mm needles cast on 66 sts. Work 10 rows in Gr st (=3 cm). Cont. 24 rows as foll: 3 sts in Gr st, 2 sts in St st, 10 sts in Patt st, 36 sts in St st, 10 sts in Patt st, 2 sts in St st, 3 sts in Gr st. Next row: 5 sts in St st, 10 sts in Patt st, 36 sts in St st, 10 sts in Patt st, 5 sts in St st. Keeping patt correct, work even until piece measures 30 cm from beg (=90 r.). Next row: 5 sts in St st, 10 sts in Patt st, 15 sts in St st, 6 sts in Gr st, 15 sts in St st, 10 sts in Patt st, 5 sts in St st. Work straight until work measures 31 cm from beg (=94 r.).
Shape font opening. Work in patt to centre 33 sts, join a 2nd ball of yarn and work in patt to end. Working with 2 balls of yarn, work in patt on sts at each side. Work even until piece measures 38 cm from beg (=116r.), end with wrong side row. Shape shoulders. Cast off 6 sts at beg of next 6 rows. Leave on holder rem. 15 sts for neck.

Sleeves
With size 3 1/2 mm needles cast on 34 sts. Work 10 rows in Gr st (=3 cm). Cont. in St st. Shape sides by increasing 1 st at each end of every following 6th row 8 times (=50 sts). Work straight until sleeve measures 24 cm from beg (=74 r.). Shape the top of the sleeve. Cast off 8 st at beg of next 4 rows (=18 sts). When work measures 26 cm (=78 r.) cast off all sts.

To make up
Join shoulders seams. With right side facing, using size 3 1/2 mm needles knit up 59 sts evenly around neck edge and work 3 sts in Gr st, 53 sts in St st, 3 sts in Gr st. Incr 1 st at each side of centre st every 4th row 15 times, at 3 sts from borders 1 st every 6th row 3 times, 1 st every 10th row once (=97 sts). Work in patt 64 rows. Cast off. Sew top of hook. Join sides. Sew in sleeves.
