Stitches 2/2:
1st row: *2 plain stitches, 2 purl stitches*
2nd and following row: knit the stitches as presented.
Stocking-stitch:
*1 plain row, 1 purl row*

Sample:
10x10 cm stocking-stitch using No. 6 rows = 8 stitches x 13 rows.

BACK: With the 5½ rows start 42 stitches and knit them for the border, 4 cm (= 6 rows) 2/2 stitches. Continue with stocking-stitch with No. 6 rows. At 25 cm from the border (= 32 rows) for the arm-holes interlace to the sides 2 stitches every 2 rows two times (= 34 stitches). At 41 cm from the border (= 54 rows) interlace the remaining stitches in a single way.

RIGHT FRONT: With No. 5½ rows start 22 stitches and knit them for the border, 4 cm (= 6 rows) 2/2 stitches. Continue with No. 6 rows knitting 4 stitches to 2/2 stitches for the border, 18 stocking stitches. At the center of the buttoning border make two button-holes, the first one 15 cm from the border and the second one 11 cm from it. At 25 cm from the border (= 32 rows) for the arm-hole interlace on the left 2 stitches every 2 rows two times (= 18 stitches). At 35 cm from the border (45 rows) for the neckline interlace on the right every 2 rows, 4 stitches, 2 stitches two times, 1 stitch. At 41 cm from the border (= 54 rows) interlace the 9 remaining stitches in a single way. Knit the left front in an opposite sense, without following the button-holes.

SLEEVES: With No. 5½ rows start 22 stitches and knit them for the border, 4 cm (= 6 rows) 2/2 stitches. Continue with stocking-stitch with No. 6 rows. Cast on to the sides one stitch every 10 rows three times (= 28 stitches). At 37 cm from the border (= 48 rows) for the armhole interlace the sides, every 2 rows, 2 stitches once, 1 stitch seven times. At 49 cm from the border (= 64 rows) interlace the 10 remaining stitches in a single way.

MANUFACTURING: Sew the shoulders. With No. 5½ rows retake 38 stitches around the neckline and knit them for the neck, 16 rows 2/2 stitches. Interlace. Fold the neck in half towards the inside and sew it with hidden stitches. Sew the sides. Close and assemble the sleeves. Sew the buttons.
