Requirements:
50 grams in total of Ornaghi Filati Country yarn subdivided in mélange and a plain color; No. 5½ interlocking rows.

Required stitches:
Ring String:
* 1 plain row, 1 purl row *

Ring stocking-stitch:
All plain rows.

Sample:
10x10 cm stocking-stitch = 11 stitches x 15 rows..

EXECUTION:
Using the plain color yarn, start 52 stitches, subdivide the stitches amongst the 4 rows of the interlocking rows and knit them for the border, string for 2 cm (= 4 rows): it is advised to mark the start of the row using a red thread and to knit, for each row a pair of stitches from the next row, to avoid holes when the rows are changed during the round knitting. Continue with stocking-stitch and knit 8 rows with the plain color, 14 rows with the mélange and 8 rows with the plain color.
Contemporarily at the start of the knitting using the mélange, start the casting off: carry out 8 casting off during the 12th, 16th, 20th, 24th, and 28th row by laying them. At the 30th row from the border, pass a thread between the 12 remaining stitches, pull it and fix it, closing the cap.
